Bausch and Lomb BB Microscope

Bausch and Lomb BB Microscope
This is a standard Bausch and Lomb continental-type microscope, apparently from a hospital. When the United States entered World War I, there was a need to provide continuing medical care for a large number of wounded and chronically ill. The War Department took over a number of civilian hospital facilities. There is a brass plaque on the case: Med. Dept. U.S. Army Oct. 29, 1917. There is a later stenciled label, USVA, for the Veteran’s Administration.
