The reverse of the card states that Ayer's Pills "are compounded from the extracted and concentrated virtues of purely vegetable substances, and combine the choicest cathartic principles in medicine". Ayer's Pills are adapted for curing ailments of the stomach, liver, and bowels. They cure jaundice, indigestion, headache, dizziness, and biliousness.
