Took Cart of the Dog and Let the

On a train on the Western road
the other day, when it stopped at
Barber Junction, was a man and
his wife and two small children,
their destination being Barber's.
The man had a dog tied in the bag

hi went back for his dog and took
it off the train, leaving his wife and

could. The woman had a child in
her arms and another by her side

AN EXCITED ANGLER.
He Lost His Head For Awhile, but
Landed His Fish.
If there is any place requiring a
cool head it is when one is in a
light boat or canoe angling for heavy
fish in deep or swift water. Undue
excitement has cost many a life
such circumstances.
A curious example of the outcome
of undue excitement has just been
related to me by a fact,
the individual himself.
Unfortunately for my friend,
though a man of thirty-five

had be experienced the joys
of angling.
Business took him up near the
pine woods, and between trains, aft-

The tug on the line, the bend-

whirring too much for him,
and, giving a spasmodic leap, he
cleared the boat and landed feet first
on the bottom of the lake, that was
covered with live feet of water,
holding fast meanwhile to the rod.
The cool water calmed bis nerves at
once, and, being a six footer, he
ply elevated his chin and arms and
in his own fashion began to

ed his head toward the boat to ask
for advice as to the proper way to
handle the fish, no one was to be
seen in the boat. Both his friends
had just simply rolled off their seats
and were guffawing with laughter;
the only thing to he seen by him
were two corncob pipes that his
friends had removed from their
mouths and held aloft while they
roared with amusement.
