From the perspective and type of building, this looks like a picture of of the saw mill saw mill on Cross Creek at Ann St looking towards the Fayetteville Markethouse to the SW. Some have attributed this as a picture of the Newberry grist mill on Green St which is far closer to the Market House than the mill in this picture.
