Color copy of tinted photograph of John B. Christenbury, Coach and Physical Education Instructor at East Carolina Teachers College (1940-1943), for whom Christenbury Memorial Gymnasium at ECU is named. The Gymnasium was built as a memorial to Christenbury and all alumni who died in World War II while serving in the United States Army. Christenbury (born in 1907) died on July 1, 1944, in an explosion at Port Chicago, Calif. Date approximated.
