My father, Thomas J. Abbott, was manager of Barbour Boats, Inc. in the 50s and 60s before fiberglass boats overran the market and Mr. Rivenbark would not convert from wood-sided boats to fiberglass to stay competitive. That is my dad driving the boat on the right. The correct name of the wood boat construction company was Barbour Boats, Inc, while Barbour Boat Works was the shipbuilding side of the business.
