tLe President

To the Graduating Classes:

Your senior year, graduation, com- mencement. In accompanying my mother, as a small boy, at a college commencement program, I asked her, "Why are the exercises called 'com- mencement' when the students are graduating and finishing their studies?" "Yes, they are finishing their studies," she replied, "but they are just commencing their life's career." This statement has remained with me throughout my life. I wish that I could impress upon you that your college diploma is not the symbol of a con- clusion or an ending, but the com- mencing point of a life of service to your fellow man. So with your diploma as a symbol of your preparation for a useful life, go forward, as I am sure you will, and be ashamed to die until you have rendered some real service to the world.

DERnS

There is but one straight road to success, and that is merit. The person who is successful is the person who is useful. I am hoping that the seniors who leave us this year to take their places in the professional field will remember always the motto of their Alma Mater, "To Serve," and through service become useful, successful citizens.

Annie L. Morton, Deun of Women

"To Serve" is the motto of your Alma Mater. Will you not therefore keep this motto ever before you as a constant reminder of your duty to others when you go out into the various fields of endeavor.

To serve others is a noble trait and like bread cast upon the waters will bring the richest returns.

Dr. R. J. Slay, Academic Dean

IRST come the Seniors. After all, they're of first impor- tance. They're the ones who have really shown they have the ability to pull through. Hats off to yon, Seniors.

ii

We, mIio have coiue through four years of college life, are seniors. Graduation is just around the corner, and we are just beginning to feel that we don't Mant to turn that corner. But, when we do, we'll leave with the feeling that these have been four worthwhile years, and we hope we've made the most of them.

Student Cooperative Government Rssociation

Under the leadership of Fred Martin, the Student Cooperative Council has done a fine job of handling student affairs this year. It has been very progressive in its undertakings. A committee from this group has been appointed to rewrite the Constitution of the S?C?G?A? and this will go into effect next fall. Give this group credit for work well done.

An active, hard-working organization is this club. Organized during the school year of 1945-46 it has shown what a cooperative spirit among members can do. Immediately after receiving its charter the club started an athletic scholarship for this school. To insure funds for this scholar- ship this year, the boys put on with the aid of Mr. Eli Bloom a minstrel composed of campus talent. This was the highlight of the club's program for the year. It is an up and coming organi-

The

UDomen's

These Presidents of departmental clubs and organizations receive much credit from us for the splendid work they and their clubs have done this school year. Theirs is a hard job, and they should feel very proud of their work.
