Medical helicopter EastCare crash
Description
Burned wreckage is all that is left of the Pitt County Memorial Hospital medical helicopter "EastCare" after it crashed in the Hoffman Forest near Pollocksville Thursday night about 9:30. The Bell 206 helicopter had left the U.S. Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune at 8:59 to return to Pitt Co. Memorial hospital with a 3 1/2 month-old infant. Three crew members and the infant were reportedly killed in the crash. Shortly before the crash a distress call was heard on a medical radio frequency that the aircraft was on fire.

I was the EMT Dispatcher in the Radio Room that night - last transmission was from Pam: "Pitt Trauma East Care, Mayday Mayday, Jamie we have fire on board"........I will never forget those words and that crew

My first husband, Mike Patrick McGinnis, was the Chief Flight Nurse on this flight. He along with Pam Demaree and Perry Reynolds, as well as the infant were killed in the crash.

It's been so many years and I am so thankful to the brave pilots nurses on Eastcare that tried to save my daughter Xenia. It's still so painful
