Upholstered open arm chair of mahogany (HOA 39" WOA 28" DOA 25"). In the Chippendale style; also known as an elbow or French chair. The rear legs curve back to support the high upholstered back with a pointed crest. Front legs are straight and connected by an H stretcher. Curved arm supports are uncarved. Reproduction wool damask upholstery. Arm supports are partly restored. Philadelphia, ca. 1760-1770. Decended in the Hinsdale family of Raleigh, NC.
