Description
Letter from John Augustus Lorenzo DeVisconti to his daughter, Tabitha, in which he describes his near-death experience in November 1913 while fleeing revolutionaries in Mexico. DeVisconti married Adeline Gertrude May Dupree of Farmville, N.C., in Texas in 1890. Together they had two daughters, Tabitha Marie and Sue May. After Tabitha's birth in 1891, he and Adeline moved their family to Farmville. He returned to Texas in 1893 without his family and was divorced from Adeline in 1901.
