Description
John Lawson collected natural history specimens from the colony of Carolina for James Petiver, a London apothecary. The Sloane Herbarium consists of linen paper sheets to which dried plants have been affixed with paste and strips of paper. date: c. 1718. Known specimen: Squaw-Huckleberry (Vaccinium stamineum L.), Begger Lice/Beggar's Ticks (Desmodium tortuosum (Swartz) D.C.), Virginia Chain-Fern (Woodwardia virginica (L.) Smith), Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium calceolus v. pubescens Caroll)
