Letter from Robert C. Caldwell to his wife Mag Caldwell. Robert is serving as a private in Company C., 10th Battalion, North Carolina Heavy Artillery near Wilmington, N.C. Robert writes that he is well and is writing from Wrightsville Sound where he is working as a cook. He wishes the war would end so the soldiers can go home to their families. He tells Mag he is short of money and has not drawn his pay. He received his trunk with several items missing, and plans to send it home because he is moving around so much. more...
