Nicole Robertson West
9/12/01

The event that took place yesterday was a total shock to me. They called it the "Attack on America". I was in my room studying for a test, and I received a phone call. It was a friend telling me to turn on the television because something happened in New York. Being that I have a New York native, I automatically got excited when I saw the World Trade Center powers crumble down as if it never existed. I immediately thought about the thousands of lives that were taken and the sudden hijack crashes on the planes into the building. The major questions that I had were how did such an event take place? Who could be more powerful than the U.S.? Where were our people after the first crash? How didn't the US see this coming?

Unfortunately, the people whom were involved in this act knew exactly what they were doing. They knew how to a fly the jet. They had a specific plan of hitting the WTC directly in the center. They wanted to destroy America's prized possessions, the WTC and the Pentagon. President Bush made an essential speech last night letting American know that we will still go on no matter what. These terrorists have taken something away from us, but they will not take America's strength and pride. It is going to take a while for America to overcome this tragedy, but we must proceed in taking action against the people who committed

the crime and running the U.S. I pray to God for all the people who lost their families. Just think about the children who just saw their parents before school, but when they returned home from an impaired will not be there internally. I hope that no one I know was caught up in the event, but in actuality everyone in New York City is a part of the tragedy because there's still suffering the consequences.
