Pieces O' Eight served as a literary platform for students of East Carolina Teachers College to share their sense of humor, opinions on world affairs, and take on the campus community in a forum designed by students to appeal to their peers. Though served by faculty advisors, all day to day operations of the magazine were controlled by students, including soliciting local businesses to advertise.
