The sword is probably from the early 1900's to the 1930's. It was given to me by a friend about 1990. At that time she was about 53 years of age. The sword had been given to her father. I do not have his name or her maiden name. Her name is Barbara O'Brien, a married name. Her husband is retired Army so they moved a great deal. That's all I know

I am a NC native, born in Raleigh, lived in Cary (grandfather: RO Heater), (Uncle: Robert Heater), both were chairman of the Wake County Board of Supervisors/Comissioners. I graduated from Goldsboro HS in 1966 and ECU in 1970/71. Vietnam delayed my graduation until 1971.. I am in possession of a Kinghts of Pythias sword/sabor and scabbard. I have no need for it. My great-great-great-great grandfather moved to New Hanover County outside of Burgaw & Wilmington about 1746. His name was James Bland. One of his descendants was Judge John Thomas Bland of Burgaw, and his son was John Thomas Bland, Jr. of Burgaw (an attorney). My father, William Archibald Bland was born in Burgaw in 1921 and died in Durham in 1999. My mother, Dorothy Lee Heater Bland lives on Topsail Island (Surf City), Pender County, NC. Having said all that, I would like to donate the sword/sabor to the Wilmington chapter of the Knights of Pythias. Please have the chapter historian or another chapter officer contact me on my cedll# 703-501-5269. Thanks, Tom Bland
