The House Family Papers belonged to the father of Mrs. Clifford J. Cocowitch. The collection is made up primarily of land deeds from Halifax County, N. C. There is, however, one deed from Martin County.

There are numerous land deeds held by William Legget of Halifax County dealing primarily with property along Deep Creek in that county. Also included is a promissory note held by John H. Ivey against William Legget for $3,300 (1856).
