O'Neal Foundation Papers (#20), East Carolina Manuscript Collection, J. Y. Joyner Library, East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina, USA.
- Gift of Mrs. Virginia Dees
This collection contains the papers of the O'Neal Foundation, organized June 9, 1949, in Greenville, N.C., as a result of the brutal murder of William Benjamin O'Neal. The citizens of the Greenville area, to show their sympathy to O'Neal's widow and children, organized to solicit funds to build Mrs. O'Neal and her children a new home.
Correspondence includes several letters of appreciation for contributions to the Foundation. One letter to Carl Goerch gives a description of the actual O'Neal murder and asks him to tell of the Foundation's plans.
The collection also contains by-laws, resolutions, committee membership listings, and financial reports of the O'Neal Foundation.
Also in the collection are several newspaper clippings and a proclamation by the Mayor of Greenville.
