This collection primarily contains correspondence concerning various East Carolina College activities including the construction of Joyner Library. Several items from before his time at ECC are included as well.


Biographical/historical information

Dink James was born October 4, 1901 in Greenville, North Carolina and died July 21, 1985 also in Greenville. He attended law school at UNC-Chapel Hill, adn then practiced law in Greenville for 45 years and served as a Pitt County judge for 37 years. He was the founder, chairman, president, and director of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Pitt County. He also was founder and first president of the Pitt County Historical Society and was involved in Kiwanis. He married Carolyn Fullove James and had a son and a daughter.

This collection primarily contains correspondence concerning various East Carolina College activities including the construction of Joyner Library. Several items from before his time at ECC are included as well.
