Scope and arrangement

Rear Admiral Ashford discusses his background in Georgia, experiences at the U.S. Naval Academy, flight training, experiences as a naval aviator after 1929, duty in the Canal Zone, reminiscences as aide and flag lieutenant to Admiral W. F. Halsey prior to and during W.W. II, command of the Naval Air Station-Patuxent, responsibilities while stationed in D.C., and experiences as commander of the MIDWAY.
