The first campus radio station was WWWS (91.3 FM), founded in the 1950s ann located in Joyner Library. In 1982 the station changed to WZMB, which is run by East Carolina University Student Media Board and located in the basement of the former Mendenhall Student Center.
WECU-TV was founded in 1954 and housed near the School of Education. A new studio was completed near the medical campus in early 1972. The station closed permanently at the beginning of 2010 due to budgetary issues.

Kennedy's visit to East Carolina College on the presidential campaign trail. Includes some of Kennedy's speech, including an introduction by Louis Gaylord.
