    Publications, writing, correspondence, and notes of Dr. Thomas C. Parramore. He was a long time professor of history at Meredith College, as well as a prominent author on the subject of North Carolina history and the recipient of numerous historical association awards. He wrote on the history of medicine and doctors of early North Carolina.

  • Biographical / Historical Note
     

    Thomas Custis Parramore was born 19 December 1932 in Winton, North Carolina to Thomas Custis and Frances Stuart (Semmes) Parramore. After graduating from Ahoskie High School, he went on to earn his bachelor's, master's, and doctorate in English history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was elected to be a member of the North Carolina Society. He married Barbara Mitchell. Parramore was a Professor of History at Meredith College for thirty years (retiring in 1992) as well as a prominent author on the subject of North Carolina history and the recipient of numerous historical association awards. He died 13 January 2004 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
