Typescript of Anna Pritchard's diary, 1854-1880.
Biographical/historical information
Anna Jones was born 1829 December 27 to William Green and Mary Christmas (Johnston) Jones. In 1846 she married, over the family's protest, Dr. Robert Christian Pritchard. They had ten children born between 1848 and 1868, but only seven lived past two years. The Pritchard's built their house, "Buena Vista," in southwestern Warren County in 1848 and lived there until 1856 when they moved to Warrenton for the sake of Robert's medical practice. After he suffered a paralytic stroke in 1858, they moved to the country again and eventually back to Buena Vista. Anna would remain at Buena Vista until her death on 1914 July 14.
Scope and arrangement
Typescript of Anna Pritchard's diary between 1854 and 1880. The first several pages give an account of her grandmother (Sarah Green Johnston), her mother (Mary Christmas Johnston Jones), several of her brothers and sisters, herself, and her marriage to Dr. Pritchard. Many of the entries discuss the family history. The original diary has been lost.
