Biographical/historical information

Mrs. Francis Holloway Wynne of Wake County, North Carolina, was born on March 13, 1932. She graduated from Durham High School in 1950, then enrolled at Duke University, where she graduated in 1954. Wynne taught middle school for 25 years in Fairfax, Virginia before eventually retiring to Clayton, North Carolina. She died on March 19, 2010.

Wynne also spent much of her time conducting genealogical research on her family. She was a member of many genealogical organizations in Virginia, North Carolina, and at the national level. In addition, Wynne was a lifetime member of the Fairfax Genealogical Society and an honorary lifetime member of the African American Genealogical Society of Washington, D.C. During her lifetime she published eleven books on genealogy, mostly covering Wake County and other regions of North Carolina. In 1982, Wynne, with co-author, C. J. Stevens, produced a publication entitled "Teaching Genealogy to Enrich the Curricula of the Intermediate, Middle, or Junior High School."
