Items (1928-1941) related to Greenville, NC, resident James Howard Moye; and items (1955) related U.S. Coast Guard rescues in North Carolina. The Zion's Landmark Vol. 23, No. 7 and Vol. 32, No. 7 (10/15/1890 and 2/15/1899) periodical published semi-monthly by Zion's Landmark Print, Wilson, North Carolina (Primitive, or Old School Baptist) that was in the collection has since been transferred to the North Carolina Collection as of 2022.
Dannie Bruce Wooten was born on December 10, 1954, in Farmville, North Carolina. He was the former owner and operator of Red Oak Show and Sale. He also worked many years at the Branch Bank and Trust Company (BBT) and at Wachovia. He died on July 27, 2021.

Included in this collection is information on the United States Coast Guard Lifesaving Service (the previously name for the U.S. Coast Guard) and its North Carolina coastal rescues carried out from 1884 to 1954. Of particular interest is a letter dated August 5, 1955, which is addressed to Herbert C. Bonner of Washington, N.C. from A. C. Richmond, Vice Admiral of the U.S. Coast Guard, Commandant. Enclosed with the letter is a list giving details of these N.C. coastal rescues.
The collection also has military and travel documents along with a photograph. The documents were once owned by Greenville, N.C. resident James Howard Moye, who served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army during the 1930s. The travel items include a passport, a couple of travel tickets, and one postcard from Moye's trip to France in 1928. The military papers consist of his discharge and enlistment record from Battery A, 113th Field Artillery, North Carolina National Guard in 1934 and certificates from his time in both the National Guard and the U.S. Army. One is a certificate of proficiency from Field Artillery, Fort Still, Ok, 1941. The other two certificates are of his commissions to Second Lieutenant, Field Artillery in the National Guard (1937) and to Captain, Field Artillery in the U.S. Army (1941). The photograph is of Arthur S. "OTT" Alford who was the principal of an elementary school in Fountain, North Carolina, c. 1930s.
There were two periodical issues entitled, "Zion's Landmark," Vol. 23, No. 7 and Vol. 32, No. 7 (10/15/1890, 2/15/1899) in the collection; however, they have since been transferred to the North Carolina Collection as of 2022.
