Biographical/historical information
Robert Allen Spurr was born in Newark, Ohio on March 12, 1923. Spurr's service during World War II included time aboard the USS Wisconsin BB-64, the USS Wyoming AG-17, and the USS Electra AKA-4. He was also stationed at NTC Great Lakes, Illinois. For his service, Spurr was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal along with several other medals and recognitions.
Scope and arrangement
This collection includes a personal war diary from 1943-1945, a photo book from the USS Wisconsin, personal correspondence, an original issue of the Navy Day the Badger USS Wisconsin at San Francisco, California. Volume II No.4, a newspaper clipping of the USS Wisconsin from June 1987, several programs from different Navy events (1944-1945), menus for holiday dinners (1944-1945), and an original copy of Invasion Maps of all Theaters of War, and a 7 copies of "On Wisconsin!"
