Biographical/historical information

Charles Alexander Beam, Jr. was born on August 26, 1923, in Ely, Nevada to Charles Alexander and Nellie Henderson Beam. He was one of the first United States Navy SEALs to complete training and earned two Silver Stars and two Purple Hearts during twelve submarine patrols and at D Day at Tarawa. Following his retirement from the Navy, Beam, Jr. became a pioneer in the computer industry. He would go on to teach for several years late in his life.


Scope and arrangement

This collection includes a biographic account written by Charles Alexander Beam, Jr. about his life and time in the Navy. Also included are two photocopied newspaper articles referencing the bench that Beam dedicated to his fallen comrades in Salt Lake City.
