Biographical/historical information
The North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association promotes progress through programs for organizations who foster charitable, educational and scientific endeavors. The organizations are also required to have tax exempt status. The group accomplishes their goals by holding leadership conferences, increasing student membership and involvement in the chapter and by assisting students and educational staff through outreach and other methods. Work programs are also organized, and legislative issues are discussed at association meetings. Some of the state and regional issues the group focuses on include manufactured housing, outdoor advertising signs, transportation, water and sewer facilities, historic preservation and assisting citizen planners throughout the chapter area.
