Included is a letter (February, 1863) from M. A. Hoyt to Sally Marshall discussing the situation with the "Yankees" in North Carolina, slave desertions to Washington (N.C.), and the sale of slaves.
A deed (July, 1866) by Willis W. Cherry grants land in Wayne County, N.C., for a school and Masonic lodge and includes a plat. Also included are miscellaneous genealogical notes concerning the Marshall family.
