Jennie Whitley attended the Staunton Female Seminary in Staunton, Virginia, where she graduated in 1885.
Her letters (1883-1885) were written to her brother in her native Pantego, N.C., (Beaufort County) and tell of school activities and her life at the seminary.
Also contained are an autograph book, with the signatures of her classmates, and two school essays concerning adversity and memory.
