The collection contains legal records and financial papers of several generations of the Lancaster family.
Land records pertain to the Swift Creek section of Craven County north of the Neuse River and reflect transactions of St. Clair Lancaster, Benjamin Williams, William Bryan, Elisha Griffin, Allen Anderson and Amon Joyner. Other papers include a bill of sale for a Negro boy (1846), correspondence concerning bank financing (1850), a summons, a plat for land on Swift Creek, mortgages, and receipts.
