Our finding aids:

The finding aids on this website describe collections that are housed within the Special Collections department of Joyner Library at East Carolina University.

These documents are produced to give researchers an overview of a collection of papers, audio visual material, and more.

The finding aids are encoded in EAD, Version 2002. A large portion of our finding aids were originally outsourced to be encoded by the company Apex CoVantage. More information about that process can be read about in this article, "Outsourcing EAD: Guidelines for NCEAD Institutions considering an outsourcing solution for encoding legacy finding aids". Our University Archives department is using Archivists' Toolkit to manage their collections and to output their EAD.

This site:

Our EAD documents are indexed and made searchable with Ixiasoft's TEXTML database. Portions of these documents have also been added to an SQL database to help enable some of our "browsing" features.

The website utilizes Yahoo's YUI Grids CSS framework as well as the jQuery javascript library. For our container lists, we are using Jörn Zaefferer's jQuery Treeview plugin. For most of our icons, we are using Aleksandr Kozmenko's Led Icon Set v1.0.
