Picture Caption from Daily Reflector on May 2, 1964:"MAY FELLOWSHIP DAY... was observed yesterday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church by the United Church Women. The theme for the day "One Family Under of__ Freedom of Residence and Job Opportunity" was discussed by a panel from the Pitt County Interracial Committee. Shown above, left to right, are Mrs. W.E. Roseveare, who served as chairman for the meeting, the Rev. Richard Ottaway, Miss Mary Hawkins, Richard Davis and Dr. Andrew Best, panel members. Ed Waldrop, also a panel member, was not present for the picture."
The black man on the right is Dr. Andrew Best (medical doctor who was also very active in civis affairs. He contributed much in establishing the med school. He was loved by both blacks and whites......an outstanding person which was recognized by practically everyone
