Abstract:
The H.G. WRIGHT, a 19th-century sternwheeler, was used by the U.S. Corps of Engineers to dredge the Cape Fear and Black rivers to remove dangerous snags. Abandoned in a marsh off Eagle's Island in 1924, it rusted and sank in the mud. In 1986, the mechanical parts were recovered and restored.
