Abstract:

Barbara Allen, of Carolina Power & Light Company, manages the utility's community relations department, a post created in 1989. This department is made up of six divisions, including a speaker's bureau and a program that trains meter readers and other company employees to help look out for elderly customers. Another component is Project Share, a program which raises funds to help those who are unable to pay their light bill. Allen is featured in NORTH CAROLINA magazine's “executive profile.”
