Abstract:
In the 1950s, the Nantahala Power and Light Company began impounding a series of small reservoirs on the East Fork of the Tuckasegee River and its upper tributaries. Bear Creek Lake, located in the middle of the chain of reservoirs in Jackson County, was completed in 1954. Messer discusses the lake and its fisheries of smallmouth bass and brown trout.
