Abstract:

In 1990, the Hartford Whalers NHL team relocated to North Carolina, becoming the Carolina Hurricanes. Pearson describes the lean, early years in Greensboro, competing with other teams for fans, and the final move to a permanent home in Raleigh and eventual success.
