Abstract:
No matter how quickly highways are built to and around cities, they soon become alarmingly crowded. Such congestion increases the acceptability of mass transit to commuters. Upcoming projects include the Triangle Transit Authority's 35-mile regional rail system and extending passenger train service to the western part of the state.
