Abstract:

The University of North Carolina Sea Grant Program has made substantial contributions to the state’s coastal resources, marine education, research, and economy. Sea Grant has also worked with commercial fishermen, helping them to develop new and improved technology for handling nets, crab pots and other fishing gear. In return, there have been increases in fish harvests and profits.
