Abstract:
North Carolina has varied waterways for pleasure boating, sightseeing and fishing in addition to channels and protected harbors for water commerce. The state has 11 major river basins or watersheds, a chain of man-made and natural lakes extending form the Great Smoky Mountains to the sea, and a coast broken by inlets and broad sounds and river mouths.
