This article looks at the 1836 Election and the Whig's Party plan to run three separate candidates in different regions of the country--Hugh Lawson White in the South, Daniel Webster in parts of New England, and William Henry Harrison in the remainder of the East and Northwest--against Democratic candidate Martin Van Buren.
