Abstract:

Murphy describes Rowan County as a place rich in history, industrial development, and agricultural products. About 700,000 people live within a radius of sixty miles. It is a center of electrical development with Duke Power heavily involved. One of the best airports in the South is there. The schools are modern. Southern Railroad operates the largest railway shops and freight transfer shed in the South at Spencer.
