What Industry Has Done in the Development and Progress of Person County

Record #:
18997
Abstract:
Person County owes its present prosperity and progress to three factors--its agricultural resources, industrial plants, and tobacco market. The county has 2,672 farms with a total value of over $5 million. Among the largest industrial concerns are the Collins and Aikman Corporation with a plant employing 1,500, and the Roxboro Cotton Mills and the Longhurst Cotton Mills. The county is also rich in undeveloped minerals, including copper, iron, and granite.
