Abstract:
Located in Ashe County and chartered in 1875, the town of Ore Knob was once a village of over 500 individuals, subsisting on profits from the copper industry. Originally a quest for iron deposits, mining efforts in Ashe refocused on copper after analysis of iron yielded high concentrations of copper.
