Abstract:
When Oakwood Homes Corporation president James LaVasque was killed in a plane crash, Nicholas J. St. George was offered the position. The mobile home industry was at a low point in the late 1970s, and St. George was the force behind Oakwood's recovery, expanding its manufacturing, sales, and development operations. The company is now one of the Southeast's leading manufactures, retailers, and marketers of mobile homes.
