Abstract:
Fifty years ago a small group of local artists in Salisbury, located in Rowan County, formed an organization, known as the Rowan Art Guild, to support and promote the area's visual arts. In 1977, the Guild moved into Salisbury's original waterworks plant and later renamed it the Waterworks Visual Arts Center. Outgrowing its original space by 2003, the Center moved to a new location in downtown Salisbury.
