Abstract:
The founding of Brevard County North Carolina in 1861 resulted in the creation of a millionaires' playground in Transylvania's Lake Toxaway. Looking back 100 years to its inception, historic events in Transylvania included the dredging of Broad River, and the launch of the steamboat Mountain Lily. As a millionaires' playground, Lake Toxaway was an escape for many famous personalities, such as Henry Ford, and Thomas A. Edison.
