Founded in 1967, Photo Corporation of America, now PCA International, is headquartered in Matthews. It has developed into the world's largest portrait photographer. PCA takes portraits in 6,700 stores, representing 153 retail chains in North America, and has photographed 7.5 million customers. The company employs 1,100 in North Carolina.
