Foreign Trade Zone Concept: Is Coming to North Carolina

Abstract:
The foreign trade zone concept was established in this country in 1934 when Congress passed the enabling legislation. This article presents information on what it is and how it will work. Seaports such as Morehead City and Wilmington are potential locales for foreign trade zone in the state. The first zone is expected to be established at Douglas Airport near Charlotte.
