Abstract:
In 1895 in High Point, A. O. Redding began making household furniture under the name of Alma Furniture Company. In 1904, Charles E. Hayworth, at age twenty-two, founded the Hayworth Roll and Panel Company which was located next door to the Alma Furniture. When Redding died in 1921, Hayworth purchased Alma at auction. Today he is president of Alma Desk Company and other companies that comprise Hayworth Industries.
