A New Era Has Dawned for the Road Program

Abstract:
The North Carolina Highway Commission, which had existed for fifty-eight years, ceased to be as of July 1, 1973, as the new State Board of Transportation took over. This article includes some of the major features of the new board, which came into existence as the result of the constitutional amendment mandating a reorganization of North Carolina government.
